Version:           dolphin 1.2.1 (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

This is an annoying one. 

Description:
If a text file is opend with kwrite, trough dolphin and the file has a wrong character encoding, there is no warning. 
So one is not able to change or even delete a single sign within the text file and will search endless for the problem. I first thought that the applcation is broken.

The correct behavior should be that a warning will appear if a text file with a wrong character encoding is opened with dolphin.

If the text file is opened only through Kwrite, it warns that the  will be opened in read only mode to prevent overwriting etc.

This is true as of 4.2.2.  If the file is *reloaded* (F5), then the warning dialog appears but opening a file from the shell does not cause the warning dialog to appear.

As I stated at bug 197618, this is still happening on current trunk (4.4). Bug 197618 also contains a simple testcase file with encoding problems.

In current versions there is an inline message box about that.
