Bug 188563

Summary: focus follows mouse closes menus (like KickOff and the device manager) when the mousepointer passes by another app (the window opened is slightly offset from the taskbar button, meaning you have to pass over the desktop to get to the new window)

Description Reidaris 2009-03-31 20:26:44 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.1)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.3.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

When clicing on KickOff (or any other taskbar "launcher" like the device manager), it opens the menu, and moving the mousepointer to the opened window/menu, you pass over the desktop because it's slightly offset from the button you clicked.
When the "focus follows mouse" option is set in the window manager, passing over the desktop closes the menu window before the mousepointer can get to the new menu if there is another application under the menu (as if you run a fullscreen application that covers the space between the taskbar and the menu window).

I don't use the autoraise function that comes with "focus follows mouse", so even though another window gets focus, that shouldn't close the menu (or other windows). Annoying that the menu disappears when i click KickOff and try to move my mouse to the window that popped up.
