It would be a great idea to auto associate contacts with the ones in kaddressbook basing on their ids.

For example if i have 2 contacts in kopete:
ciao@hotmail.it and cucu@yahoo.com, it could search them in the addressbook and if they're find and both mails belong to the same person, it should have to group them into the same metacontact and associate it with the entry in the phonebook.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
