Description Dotan Cohen 2009-03-19 17:12:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When choosing "safely remove disk" (or something like that, mine is not in English) for removing USB drives from Dolphin, there is no indication that the sync is done and that the user can safely remove his drive. Please add such an indication. Thanks!

If I'm not wrong (I've added Kevin to CC, he knows it for sure) the mounted disk icon emblem will disappear as soon as the synchronizing has been done. Maybe this kind of indication is not sufficient, but I'm unsure what kind of indication you prefer. E. g. I personally wouldn't like to have a modal dialog with an OK button for confirmation. Maybe adding an information to the status bar might be an option, but this would work only for Dolphin and not e. g. for the file dialog.

In Dolphin, that icon does not disappear for me. Maybe the panel icon disappears, though, I have not checked that.

In KDE 4.5 now, if you unmount the device using the sidebar in dolphin, it takes some time and then the “mounted” icon disappears in the sidebar and the device notificator on the taskbar turns into a blue arrow. Then you may remove the device savely.
The device only disappears from the sidebar if you remove it, not if it is unmounted, as you may want to mount it again using dolphin.

Resetting assignee to default as per bug #305719

This works as expected in the latest version of Dolphin. When a device is unmounted, it triggers a system notification that it is safe to remove.
