karbon 1.6 can save its own file format (.karbon)

karbon 2 does not support that format and cannot open karbon 1.6 documents !

export import is not a solution. a newer version of application should support perfectly the file formats of the previous version

There is an import filter for the old format. There will not be an export filter to the old format. If the import filter is missing in beta7 thats due to a wrong buildsystem commit disabling all karbon filters. This is already fixed.
If you have an old file that is not imported correctly, please file another bugreport with the file attached.
