Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I love using notes plasmoids for making quick notes/reminders, but find it a pain to have to open the "add widgets" dialog to bring one up whenever I need one. I know plasma is about being able to throw down plasmoids quickly and easily to make the desktop truly useful and flexible- such as how dropping directory mimetimes allows quick spawning of folderviews or how dropping image mimetypes allow quick spawning of picture frames. So, having to add each note using the same method I would use to add more "permanent" plasmoids (such a clock or weather monitor) is a bit backwards.

As such, it would be great to have a "Notepad" plasmoid which can sit in the panel or desktop and be clicked to quickly spawn a new note on the desktop.

I can't code myself, but I know how much can be achieved in plasma with a few lines of code if you know what you're doing. So I thought it would be worth posting in case anyone wants to code it up- I figure it couldn't take a plasma hacker more than 30 min and would be very useful to a lot of people.
