Version:           0.70.0 (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.27-8-eeepc

I configured global shortcuts to set status(online, away, etc.). I can't set status from other workspace(virtual desktop), only from main kopete window or from chat window. And they change only the status but not the status message.

Probably you setup a Kopete shortcut, not a global shortcut. You can do that using the instructions here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=263559

As for the status message use the command

qdbus org.kde.kopete /Kopete org.kde.Kopete.setStatusMessage <message>
