Description pclerie 2009-02-26 23:31:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

File dialogs (Open/Save/Attach) freeze when Open-Save-Attach button is clicked. This occurs on any application that use the dialogs. I've seen it with Kate, Konqueror, Kmail. It also happens with the Quick Access dialog. It may be intermittent althought with the last upgrade I made - 25-Feb-09/intrepid-backports - it is becoming pretty consistent. Every it happens, the app that called the dialog dies once the dialog is forcibly terminated. And the krunner process always dies with it (or at least, I find krunner dead after I do a ps ax). Sometimes, even the plasma process dies.

I have started killing krunner (kquitapp krunner) upon starting KDE. The file dialogs then behave normally. However I have not been doing that long enough to know what the downsides are.

For the moment I have no more info.

Regards
Philippe

Hi! Can you reproduce the bug using more recent KDE version like 4.2.4 or 4.3?

Many thanks for your feedback :)

I'm running 4.2.2 and I have not seen this particular bug again. It
probably should be removed.
