Sentry Crash Report:

Description Manfred Knick 2009-02-24 10:11:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler: gcc-4.3.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

There already exist BUGs describing diverse problems with adding /saving _additional_ profiles. This one already applies to the existing default profile.

In KDE 3.x.x, you could set one of the konsole TABs into the state of "copy all input into this TAB to all TABs", and then save the desktop.
Re-starting KDE, this setting was being restored.

In combination with the esteemed possibility to define multiple TAB profile layouts, this was very helpful esp. if you used Konsole for managing multiple servers via ssh.

Now, in KDE 4.2.0, "KDE -> exit -> save desktop" unfortunately "forgets".

Thanks in advance!

The 'copy to' is not currently saved in the profiles.

Just an observation, have Konsole automatically start with 'copy to' active seems a bit of a danger (ie you forget it is on). Perhaps a dialog the first time?

Would be appreciated very much to keep them in ... :)

This state is clearly visible by the star "*" added to the console's TAB name.

> Perhaps a dialog the first time?

IMHO: Please, don't !

Those people using this (esp. for the purposes explained above) will hate "yet another manual click needed" out of over-protectiveness.

Thanks a lot!

Kind regards
Manfred

Well yes, the master tab has a '*', but the slaves appear as normal tabs.

The dialog would have the normal "don't show this in the future".

Anyway, it was just a thought.

Seems I misunderstood your "the first time" :

> The dialog would have the normal "don't show this in the future".

Then that is perfectly o.k., from my view.

> Anyway, it was just a thought.
Well, maybe, a good one!

Thanks, kind regards!

I'm still of the opinion that this would be a bad idea to have it restored. It has been 15 years since the report . Re-open this if you still have strong feelings about wanting this.

Hi, Kurt!
As far as I am concerned, I really would not mind to have this closed - preferably as "OBSOLETE".
Thanks!
Kind regards
Manfred

Postscriptum - OT:
Nowadays, I enjoy the effectiveness of extreme simplicity:
dwl <- wlroots <- wayland; plus bemenu and foot - that's all
to support any ( KDE ) application I might need:
[ https://codeberg.org/dwl/dwl ] ,
perfectly providing a 2x2 Monitor workstation (Gentoo) setup
as well as a "Road Warrior" Notebook.
