Description Marcel Partap 2009-02-19 20:40:16 UTC
Version:           4.2.63 (KDE 4.2.63 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090212)) (using 4.2.63 (KDE 4.2.63 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090212)), Gentoo)
Compiler:          x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS:                Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.28-gentoo-r2

Because the "Embeddable Image Viewer" can not zoom out <100%, i switched to the Gwenview kpart to be able to fully see the high-res poster i wanted to have a look at. This resulted in the 8mb image being downloaded again, hinting on the fact that although it was retrieved within the webbrowser it did not end up in the web cache (which i just verified by searching the cache folder for the image).
I think this is the same issue when saving an image to harddisk (which is then re-retrieved) and with the Web Archiver..

Ahh... where exactly is "the cache folder for the image" ? Did you mean ~/.thumbnails ? The only place an image you are viewing in the "Embeddable Image Viewer" would be cached is in kio_http's cache. If you have that enabled then the image should come from that cache.
