If you activate a column and then want to select a file from another, currently inactive, column using the selection markers, dolphin won't select the file directly, it will just activate the column where the file you wanted to select "resides".
After the column is activated, selecting the file works.

I can't reproduce this.
Could you verify that this is still an issue and if it is please do provide detailed steps to reproduce it.
