Hi,

Searching for a string with ä in it fails with:

Searching of folder INBOX failed. The server returned: Missing or invalid argument to UID SEARCH

Environment:
 - Linux 2.6.28
- IMAP: UW-imap 2007B version

While I do not get a server error, the search for "subject contains ä" returns nothing, but "subject matches reg. exp. ä" returns the message.
Using kmail 1.11.90 (kde 4.2.61)

Works for me, but it returns only 3 results for "ä in subject", while using "ä" in the folder list search bar provides a lot more results (no numbers being displayed), all legit.

"Find Messages" does not find e.g.:
 Subject: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Adventskalender=2C_Kl=E4ppchen_16?="

But it finds:
Subject: =?UTF-8?Q?Antw:=20Adventskalender,=20dat=209.=20Kl=C3=A4ppschen?=

So apparently, it only works for UTF-8 encoded subjects?! (in my case).

I'm using KMail 1.11.2 (KDE 4.2.2) from Kubuntu.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
