Description Stephan Sokolow 2009-02-04 20:20:46 UTC
Version: unknown (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25-gentoo-r7-20080501

As far as I can tell, Kopete 4 doesn't have the option to choose whether KeypadEnter sends the message. I much prefer to have all Enter keys behave equally with Ctrl+Enter inserting newlines.

The more I use Kopete for KDE 4, the more irritating this gets. I'm used to being able to send URLs by middle-clicking in the text entry field and then hitting KeypadEnter with my thumb without removing my right hand from the mouse.

I agree. I stopped using Kopete and went back to Pidgin because of this annoying behavior. I'd be more than willing to give Kopete a go if Enter meant Enter.

i committed a patch that, by default, allows the use of KeypadEnter to send messages. If you haven't changed the send shortcut from the default, you should see the change. It'll be in KDE 4.2.2.

Also, with KDE 4.2.1, I was able to do a 'Configure Shortcuts' in the chat window and set the 'Send Message' shortcut to KeypadEnter in addition to normal 'Enter'. Note that the shortcut must be set from a chat window. setting the same shortcut from the contact list won't work.
