Description Nikos Chantziaras 2009-02-04 14:00:37 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler: GCC 4.3.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

All versions of KDE 4 (including latest 4.2.0) on my system (Gentoo Linux
64-bit) seem to have this bug when rendering fonts in Plasma areas:

(Note the rendering bug in the words "Free" and "Year".) At first I thought this is a bug with the font I use "DejaVu Sans", but it turned out other fonts inhibit the same behavior after a while.

This *only* happens in Plasma areas (Plasmoids and panel for example.) Normal widgets (buttons, text areas, etc.) aren't affected.

I'm also attaching a screenshot since tinypic is not reliable for long-term storage.

I just found a similarly wrongly rendered font that is not in Plasma. Attaching screenshot. Note how the "Vu" is running together and how the tooltip text doesn't fit in the tooltip box.

I guess this should be fixed now with an updated KDE+Qt. Are you still experiencing it ? Thanks

It got fixed with Qt 4.5.0.
