This feature could store the contents of CDs that the owner has as well. Here is a Windows application that does this, and it is very handy: http://www.ghacks.net/2009/02/06/octopus-dvd-indexer/ I'm afraid this isn't feasible. How much should we cache? 1GB 5GB? What do we do when the original comes back and there are conflicts? Etc. The challenges are immense for little gain compared to the easy solution of just keeping the remote machines on or turning them on when you need to access their contents. |
