Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I have a home network of several computers that are not always powered on. It would be nice if Dolphin could permanently cache the directories that I've visited on those systems so that I could browse their last known contents even when they are offline. All that is needed is same info that one would have from "ls -a -l" in the directory, no icons or previews.

An option to spider the remote machines would be very nice as well.

This feature could store the contents of CDs that the owner has as well. Here is a Windows application that does this, and it is very handy:

I'm afraid this isn't feasible. How much should we cache? 1GB 5GB? What do we do when the original comes back and there are conflicts? Etc. The challenges are immense for little gain compared to the easy solution of just keeping the remote machines on or turning them on when you need to access their contents.
