When I try to connect to google talk nothing happens except for the following console output:

QObject: Do not delete object, 'unnamed', during its event handler!
QObject::connect: Cannot connect (null)::onlineStatusChanged(Kopete::Contact *, const Kopete::OnlineStatus &, const Kopete::OnlineStatus &) to Kopete::Identity::updateOnlineStatus()

My settings are:
port: 5223
server:talk.google.com
ssl: yes
clear text passwords: yes
remember password: yes

Should be fixed in KDE 4.2
