This may be related to bug 173895.
What K3B version (or SVN revision) are you using?
You need to install the debug symbols packages for it in order to get an useful backtrace.

Happens to me always with mp3, selecting ogg works. Sometimes it freezes at the end of ripping, but no file is never written in dest. folder.
