the notification for new messages is too short. i see the popup for a second and then its gone again. 

i couldnt find a config dialog where to set how long the notifications should stay visible on screen. notifications for file copy/move and new messages in kmail are ok. they stay some seconds and then disappear

notifications are supposed to be persistent, i.e. not go away until you click on them. Are you running Kopete under KDE or Gnome?

Can confirm with Kopete 0.70.2 on KDE 4.2.3 (KDE mod on Arch Linux). The notification flashes for a splits second - I have no chance at all to read it.

for my part the issue seems to be resolved in kde sc 4.6.1
