Description stefan 2009-01-29 20:41:27 UTC
Version: 4.2.0 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

there is no redraw of the icon backgrounds in the system tray leading to ugly icons after a while. This is only visible if the icons change their shape, e.g. an updater icon or even amarok or the kmix icon after adjusting the volume level. old icon images remain in the background.

I have the same problem, though I'd add that it's not just when icons change their shape - icons in the systray usually seem to have an opaque black background until getting overpainted as described. Interestingly, the one non-KDE4 application I have with a systray icon (Amarok 1.4) doesn't appear to have the problem - see attachment.

Same problem here with KDE 4.2 and Nvidia's drivers 180.27 with GeForce 7600 GT. Had this issue in all KDE4 versions I tried so far.

The same problem in Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2.

This is a Qt4 bug (fixed recently in Qt-copy and Qt4.5)
