Description Sebastian Trueg 2009-01-29 12:12:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

I normally configure the panel to auto-hide. However, if that is the case I do not see if applications status changes (which is shown by the task list though a change in text color or something like that).

It would be great if there was some bouncy thing or some other means to show that an application has changed status. Very much like MAC OS/X does it (sorry to bring this comparison again) which lets the app icon bounce off the hidden task list AFAIK to show the user that the app requests attention.

A typical example is the IRC: it is often hidden by other windows which means I don't see if someone pings me. Sure, I get the typical notification but that is gone in a few seconds and I often don't catch it. Especially when I am not in the room.

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
