I forgot to also mention the header panel tooltips, which suffer from the exact same problem (annoying, redundant and irrelevant information) and would benefit from the same feature (option to disable them). I've just discovered that this functionality is already implemented. Nonetheless, it's hidden in a very obscure place (right-click menu when clicking on the folder column label in the folder panel). It would be nice if that feature was available in the "settings"->"configure kmail" dialog, as it's the place where users look for functionality of this sort. thanks, i never would have found the folder tooltip option if you hadnt described it. too bad there isnt a way to also turn off the tooltip for messages. i like the tooltips, but as you say, it shows up way too fast and when moving across folders/messages, the changing of the information is distracting (and in my case where i use VNC a lot, helps to ruin the session interactivity). * Increase a little bit the time to show the tooltips. * Make the option to disable them in the kmail configure dialog. yep ... i'd also just remind that both tooltip in the folder tree and the message list in the tabs are affected ... they currently seem to be a bit independent of each other I would like to second Jaime Toress's suggestion of increasing the time before showing the tooltip. In addition: - That delay amount Jaime refers to should be a configurable option (in seconds) - The tooltip should also disappear after a certain configurable amount - These two times (in seconds) should go with the other options. I use Kontact, and see other message list options in Kontact --> Settings --> Appearance --> Message List (tab) --> General (section) Sorry, forgot to add that my earlier comment initially came from the annoyance of having the tooltip appear immediately (which looks like it has been raised in issue 184892) I think the tooltip is useful (maybe it could be configured further to select what to show in it?), so I don't want to disable it completely. That's why I'd like there to be these delay options to prevent it appearing to immediately and intrusively and disappearing after a while.
