Version: (using KDE 4.1.96)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

As mentioned in the summary, the KDE 4 file picker's toolbars waste too much space.

If it weren't for the icon size slider and the previews toggle button (which I never use), it'd have the same number of elements with the same size requirements as KDE 3.5's file picker. Of course, the toolbar yielding space to the places sidebar also doesn't help.

I accept that there could possibly be Qt4-related technical reasons for the place sidebar's behaviour (though that won't stop me from considering it a bug), but could you at least make them customizable like the rest of the KDE toolbars so I can hide the elements I don't need and combine the rest into a single toolbar to save vertical space?

The KF5 version only has one toolbar, and it's pretty short.
