Description usrrgt 2009-01-25 22:06:33 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.96)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

"Cut" and "Copy" options for desktop files/folders don't exist when you enable "desktop view".
Comment 1 Dario Andres 2009-01-26 00:41:58 UTC
What do you mean with "Desktop View". Are you talking about switching the Plasma type from FolderView(icons in desktop) to "Desktop"(only plasmoids in desktop) ??
Comment 2 usrrgt 2009-01-26 04:49:07 UTC
The classic KDE 3 desktop view. You can see in this screenshot: http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=30581
Don't see the red circle (it is for other bug report).
Comment 3 usrrgt 2009-01-26 04:57:54 UTC
... and the Ark menu is also missing.
Comment 4 Dario Andres 2009-01-26 12:59:46 UTC
Here using:

Qt: 4.4.3 + qt-copy-patches-910240
KDE: 4.2.60 (KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090116))
kdelibs svn rev. 916868 / kdebase svn rev. 916868
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.28.1

There is no "Cut" or "Copy" options in a Folderview (containment or plasmoid), even if there are some files selected. I suppose this could be a limitation of the desktop:/ kioslave, but after changing to Home, I'm getting the same behaviour.

However, I get Ark menus (extract and compress options)

No cut etc, but i have a "download with kget", why would i want to download from my desktop with kget?

thank you for the patch, could you please look at the following bug, where I believe this patch could be applied too?:

I have another request:
Run command
Add widget
Lock widgets
Add Panel

Are missing from the context menu too and they can be also quite handy, so could these also be added?
Comment 10 Fredrik Höglund 2009-02-19 20:10:01 UTC
The cut and copy entries are only shown in the menu when "Show 'Copy To' and 'Move To' commands" is checked in the "Context Menu" tab in the "General" section of the Dolphin settings.

This is not the intended behavior though.

@Dario: Thanks for the patch, but those entries are automatically added to the menu by libkonq depending on the file permissions etc.

@aapgorilla: Could you file a separate wishlist for that request since it's not related to this bug? Thanks.

I did (or actually Nicolas Lécureuil did after I opened the bug on mdv's bugtracker) but it has gone unanswered

Sorry, I meant the request for "Run Command", "Add Widget" etc.

There are plans to add context menu plugins in KDE 4.3, which will make those entries available in the context menus in all containments.

I think the setting "Show 'Copy To' and 'Move To' commands" should be made available in konqueror too (via the dolphin-provided config modules), and then KonqPopupMenu could honor that setting too.
