Description Sander Pientka 2009-01-25 17:03:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.96)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Dolphin should have a property dialog for devices, like hard drives and cd drives. This dialog should show the volume label, file system, and the amount of free space. SMART info, automatic mount and other cool stuff would be nice to have.

This is a great idea. The mount points would be very handy to have as well. Thanks for the idea, Sander!

I think it's a great improvement.
Sometimes I need to use krusader, which gives many necessary details.

FWIW, KDE3 used to have a media:/ kioslave. You could list internal and external storage devices, rename them, mount and umount, get path and capacity information and much more. This was integrated in Kicker, Konqueror's sidebars and in many more places.

Maybe it is worth investigating whether bringing it back would be possible. On a current openSUSE Leap or Tumbleweed VM, installing KDE3 for testing the old kioslave should be quite easy.
