I think this bug is invalid. At least, it is invalid for the current (0.70.0) version of Kopete. Kopete doesn't enable the webcam automatically. It enables it when you bring up the preferences|video dialog (and disables it when you close the dialog), and it enables it when you click the "allow" button to allow someone to view your webcam. Run "lsof | grep /dev/video" to see when Kopete is actually accessing your camera. Just for safety reason I would much rather like the option [ ] enable webcam in the webcam section in Kopete settings. It is much more informative and it is clear for user if the webcam is used (intended to use) or not. IMHO this option should be disabled by default. Sounds more like a wishlist item, then. Since the webcam features don't actually work in the current version, when connecting to standard Yahoo/MSN clients, it's all academic anyway. It's as fixed as it's going to get. Yahoo! has support for webcams again, but it must be manually triggered (i.e. you invite somebody to view your webcam) before anything is captured from the webcam and sent over the wire. |
