Description urwald 2009-01-20 23:10:40 UTC
Version: 1.11.0 (using 4.1.96 (KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)) "release 78.1", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27.7-9-default

HTML messages are not displayed at all. When I get a HTML message, I see only the header, but not the context: mail_default.png. Expected: To see not only the header, but also the content, of course.

It is possible to choose the HTML part of the message manually (in the message structure, widget at the bottom). Then I see the HTML part, but without header: mail_html.png. Expected: See the HTML context _with_ header.

It is also possible to choose the plain text part of the message manually (in the message structure, widget at the bottom). Then I see the plain text part, but without header: mail_text.png. Expected: See the plain text context _with_ header.

Same in KDE 4.2 final.

Please address this bug - that's a quite basic feature that's not working and it makes daily practice quite uncomfortable.

Hi,

Please try the following to see if this solves your problem, in English (I do not have the german locale):

In the menu view, headers, select standard, then again select enterprise headers.

Is the enterprise headers the only one that does not allow you to view the mail?

I've tried it - it doesn't help. The same bug occurs on all of the available headers:
- Enterprise headers
- Fancy headers
- Brief headers
- Standard headers
- Long headers
- All headers
I've tried out all of them, and with all of them I get the very same problem. It also doesn't help to choose for example "Standard headers", than terminate KMail and start KMail another time: same bug.

And this bug also occurs independently of the question if KMail is started directly or in a Kontact session.

Note that this bug occurs of course only with Mails that contain plain text _and_ HTML. KMail displays fine every message that is plain text only.

And note that this bug occurs of course only if Settings->Configure_KMail->Security->Prefer_HTML_to_plain_text is chosen. If this is not chosen, viewing HTML mails as plain text always works fine.

This seems to be a problem that has to do something with the config files: Finally, I've deleted all config files (which wasn't nice because I've also deleted all my filters and all my old mails), but now (with a new configuration from scratch) it works.

So, you are not able to reproduce this anymore ? Are you ?
Thanks
Comment 10 urwald 2009-03-16 09:57:55 UTC
That's correct. For the moment, I can't reproduce it.
Comment 11 Jaime Torres 2009-03-16 10:04:52 UTC
Then closing it. If it happens again, please reopen the bug.

Reopening.

At another update from KDE 4.1 to KDE 4.2 (using openSUSEs new repository "KDE42") I have the same problem: HTML mails are not displayed. I see a symbol with the text "Unnamed" - when I click at this symbol, the HTML message opens in Firefox.

Seems to work fine in 4.3
