Description Vadym Krevs 2009-01-19 12:12:47 UTC
Version: 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) "release 2.1" (using 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) "release 69.2", KDE:KDE4:STABLE:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27.7-9-default

Hi. I'm trying to view the 480p HD trailer from http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/wolverine/ using Konqueror from KDE 4.1.3. When I click on the "480p" button, the status bar shows "KMPlayer: playing", then "0% Cache fill", but no window with the trailer itself opens.

However, if I right-click on the "480p" button, and select "Open With"->"KMPlayer", then I can view the movie trailer.

This is a regression as compared to KDE 3.5.10.

I fixed that yesterday. So if you compiled from extra gears sources after 2009-01-18 than please reopen this report

Where can I get hold of the relevant kmplayer sources? The extra gears website seems to refer to kmplayer-0.11.0 sources only.

http://kmplayer.kde.org/download.php try 0.11.0a
Comment 4 Vadym Krevs 2009-01-26 13:06:35 UTC
Hmm, still does not work - in fact made no difference at all. I've tried restarting KDE, etc.
Comment 5 Koos Vriezen 2009-01-27 22:31:44 UTC
Right, this isn't the bug I've fixed. Thanks for reopening.
What I see as debug output from khtml:

konqueror(18956)/khtml (frames & objects) DOM::HTMLObjectBaseElementImpl::computeContent: "/trailers/images/qtbutton.mov" "video/quicktime" ("src="/trailers/images/qtbutton.mov"", "href="http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/wolverine/wolverine-tlra_480p.mov"", "autohref="true"", "target="quicktimeplayer"", "autostart="false"", "controller="false"", "cache="true"", "saveembedtags="true"", "postdomevents="true"", "__KHTML__PLUGINEMBED="YES"", "__KHTML__PLUGINBASEURL="http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/wolverine/"", "__KHTML__CLASSID="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B"", "__KHTML__CODEBASE="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab#version=7,3,0,0"", "WIDTH="1"", "HEIGHT="1"")

and in my test mplayer bails out. Maybe it finds 1x1 too small, don't know.
I suspect this isn't a kmplayer bug but a khtml problem. If you take eg.
http://movies.apple.com/movies/disney/cars/hd/ a second window or tab is opened and then it prompt for opening w/ kmplayer.
I guess one needs to look closely at the html+javascript what exactly is supposed to happen.

This project is unfortunately no longer maintained.

If a new maintainer wants to step up and take care, the project is archived here:

https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kmplayer

You can just clone it in your private namespace on invent.kde.org and if you have started to work on it and fixed/implemented something get it reviewed and the project unarchived.

Sorry for the inconveniences.
