Description Vanessa Ezekowitz 2009-01-18 10:10:25 UTC
Version: 1.9.10 (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

If Kmail is set to "Prefer HTML to plain text", Kmail ignores my fontconfig aliases when rendering an HTML email.

On my system, I have most of bitmapped fonts aliased, such that Helvetica is replaced with Arial, Times with Bitstream Charter, and so on.

In kmail, if an email asks for the Times font in its HTML code, Kmail uses the bitmapped Times font in all its ugliness, instead of my alias to Bitstream Charter.

Uncheck "Prefer HTML to plain text" and that same email gets re-rendered into the correct font.

I should also point out that the only fonts not covered by my fontconfig aliases are those which I know for a fact will never be chosen by an application, and which need to be available as bitmaps.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
