Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Operators/symbols appear in a large number of highlighting styles, but lack a usable default style. I find that operator coloration vastly increases readability and would therefore like to see it as a default style.

I would suggest that the default's default be simply black text (as Normal) but bolded. I personally prefer gold color too, but that's already the default for numbers, and simple bold is more innocuous.

P.S. Would this be better placed under kate or katepart? I'm filing under kwrite at the moment because that's what I'm using, and I figure it probably all goes to the same place ;).

Seems reasonable. We already use NormalText+Bold for keywords, but I don't think using that for operators also would be an unreasonable overloading.

"kate" (product) covers katepart and major users. Since this is about syntax highlighting, the correct component is "syntax" :-).
