Description Peter Gückel 2009-01-15 19:08:09 UTC
Version: 1.11.0 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

When replying to a mail, normally one either highlights text to be quoted, or else the entire mail is quoted. I have smart quotes enabled, but no matter whether enabled or disabled, all my replies are always empty, i.e., no quotes.

I use html mail by preference (never download images of course), but have also tried using unenhanced plain text mail, with the same result: no quoting possible.

This turns out not to be a bug. Very strange, these default settings in this new kmail. To enable quotes, one must open the properties of the inbox folder and uncheck 'use custom templates', because they are all set by default to %blank. Then one must go into the program setup under standard templates (these are also all set to %blank, and one must click 'defaults'. After these configurations, it is possible to have quotes work, as in previous versions of kde/kmail.

Quite a bizarre setting to have with which to ship the program, I would say.
