OS: Linux

Although I set in the power manager that if I press the power button, to show the log off dialog, when I actually press it, the system shuts down without any notifications the same way when I press it in the console screen (or type shutdown in the terminal).

Note that I use KDE 4.2 RC1, and I also have GNOME installed on my computer, and on that, when I press the power button, the shutdown dialog appears, as expected.

I use a Lenovo 3000 C200 laptop and Ubuntu.

I had the same problem from acpi-support in K/Ubuntu.
The scripts powerbuttom looks for the old kde3 programs.
If there isn't kde3, it does a simple shutdown.

I think the problem is not from powerdevil.

If you go to the KDE menu and choose "Logout", the Logout dialog is shown OK ?
Comment 3 Peter Szabados 2009-01-16 17:29:43 UTC
The logout window works. I can log out, reboot, shut down and hibernate from there as expected (I didn't try suspend, but I suppose it would work too). In fact, francisco_t is right, it is probably not with powerdevil. When I press the power button, the log off dialog appears, but the computer shuts down immediately after that (as with the poweroff command).

In this case, you have some other agents messing with the power button. Filing a bug against Kubuntu would probably be useful, I'm marking this as upstream.
Comment 5 Per Ångström 2010-01-30 10:23:36 UTC
The downstream bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpid/+bug/508073, has been fixed.

And, shouldn't this bug have been resolved as DOWNSTREAM?
