Hi,

since today kmail doesnt work anymore.
If I start kmail fom the terminal it shows: 

kmail: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkmailprivate.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN4KPIM8KMeditor16contextMenuEventEP17QContextMenuEvent


If I start kontact an error message appears telling:

Loading of email-component failed. (free translation from german)

QLibrary::load_sys: Cannot load /usr/lib/kde4/kmailpart.so (/usr/lib/libkmailprivate.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN4KPIM8KMeditor16contextMenuEventEP17QContextMenuEvent)

I tried to remove, reinstall, install, reconfigure kmail, kontact, libkdepim but no effect.

I did not notice any updates which could cause this, but im not completely sure.

The information in the headers are not right:

Version:           4:4.1.3-0ubuntu1~intrepid2 (not using devel, using canonical ubuntu packages)

Compiler:          g++

KDE is 4.2 Beta

Seems like an error of packaging.
What is the version of your "kmail" and "kdepimlibs5" ?

As I wrote kmail is version 4.1.3 and kdepimlibs5 is 4.1.85. Ill try to build an svn snap of kmail

YOu have that version installed? of course you are getting errors , you have KMail from KDE4.1 and kdepimlibs (and maybe another libs) from KDE4.2.

Try to install KMAIL for KDE4.2 or downgrade all your system to 4.1.

It works again. I used the experimental repository of ubuntu tu upgrade to kde 4.2. After that I commented out the source to get not every expermental stuff during an update. 

I solved my problem now by uncommenting the source again and reinstalling kdepim. 

Now it works.

I have absolutely no idea, why that error came up... 

It worked for at least 4 weeks now. THere must have been an update recently which caused the trouble.
