I am proposing an idea relating to how the plasma handles right-clicks on the desktop.  Currently, a small, vertical menu displays on the screen.  The future state would be that several icons appear around the mouse in a circle when a right-click occurs.  Similar to the way the stars appear in the 'mouse tracker' desktop effect.  While the mouse in in the center of the icons, they display on the screen.  Scroll up moves them in a counter-clockwise manner.  Scroll down vice versa.  Mousing over any object would enlarge it similar to how OS X does for icons in the taskbar.  Moving outside of the circle of icons or right-clicking again would remove the icons from the screen.  I have a screen shot to more clearly demonstrate the concept.  Please instruct me on where to send this screenshot if you are interested in adding this change into a future iteration of KDE.

those are called "pie menus" (among other things, but that seems to be the most common name for them) .. you could implement them in a custom containment rather easily to experiment with them; nobody has to be convinced but you. that's the flexibility built into the platform.
