Version:           3.5.9 (using 3.5.10, Debian Package 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-1 (lenny/sid))
Compiler:          Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.5-mactelmko

While editing entries the addressbook ( kontact ) application
crashes and dies.

This is the view when it happens :
- kontact running
- addressbook is viewed
- using "splitscreen" view, left side shows list of entries, right side show details of current selected entry
- Using "filter" dropdown-list to filter for entries in given category
- changing category of entry to a different one, thus entry will be hidden as soon as I change selection to another entryin the list.

When selection in entry list changes after category has been changed the application crashes.
It's not always instantly, sometimes only after multiple entries have been changed.

I have the same problem. After changing the category of an contact and going back with mouse to the contact list the whole application Kaddressbook or Kontact, when started from there is crashing with SIGSEV. It might have something to do with the number of contacts in the list (I edited a list of about 500 contacts)  and the needed time for saving to file. It seems to me that if I wait some time or the list is shorter due to filtering, that the crash happens not so often. But thats only a suggestion.

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
