Description Jaroslav Franek 2008-12-28 21:49:41 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Fedora RPMs

Gvenview cannot add metadata (EXIF, IPTC, XMP) to GIF and/or PNG images. Selecting from the main menu:
Plugins -> Images -> Metadata -> Edit <one of EXIF, IPTC, XMP>...
I got a dialog box with all items inactive. Impossible to add any metadata. The dialog box window title is, e.g.

kill_bill.png (1/1) - Edit XMP Metadata - (read only) - Gwenview

If the menu said 'View XMP', I would expect I could not change anything, but it says 'Edit XMP' so I have some expectations. Note that adding metadata works with JPG images.

Feature not implemented yet? or a bug?

Since Windows Vista adds XMP metadata to some non-JPEG image types this information should at a minumum be displayed in Gwenview in 4.x

Is this really a bug or isn't it rather a permission problem of that particular file? Please test with the latest Gwenview 4.10.x and report back.
