KDE provides a very nice service menu platform, which provides actions to apply to a file, like rotating an image, sending a file by a mail etc. I think actions like those should be available in Dolphin's side panel.

Possible actions could be:

Music Tracks
-play a preview, play/pause button and album art
-add track to Amarok's playlist (dropdown menu containing available playlists)

Pictures
-rotate
-set as wallpaper
-open in Gwenview

Documents
-print
-convert to pdf
