I have very similar problem. When I try to launch KsCD I receive the same bug report. Additionally, when I try to open CD in Amarok I get the message "couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'audiocd'." *** Bug 179977 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? Thanks :) It seams I solved the problem, so it can be hard to reproduce the issue. Let's focus on question: Why my set of actions helped? (I do not know Linux environment well enough to answer this question, but I would like to know them (Linux & answer :-) ).) So, at first installed the following elements: 1) kdeutils3 (& kdeutils4) 2) kdemultimedia3 (& kdemultimedia4) 3) kdetoys3 (& kdetoys4, docbook-toys) This gave possibility to read audio:/ CDs, ie. the message "couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'audiocd'." disappeared. As there emerged further issues I dig in the second step the Packman package. I superseded or just installed the following elements in the following order: libxine1 libxine1-codecs phonon-backend-xine xine-skin xinetd xine-ui kde4-kplayer kaffeine amarok-xine libdvdcss gst-fluendo-mp3 k3b-codecs ffmpeg And finally w32codec-all. All above resulted in possibility to listen CDs, watch DVDs etc. *** Bug 197617 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This crash report is at least 3 years old and there were no further comments or status updates since then.
