Description Marek Ruszkowski 2008-12-20 18:33:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Let's say I have some file (like document.chm) which is not connected to any specific app. So I choose "Open with" and new window appears. Now, moving through all known applications in search of this specific one that could open .chm file is frustrating. I think input field should also trigger autocomplete mechanism. So as I type "chm" list should change suggesting only apps that have "chm" (e.g. kchmviewer) in its name / other search criteria.

Maybe it's because I'm new to KDE but is there a simple way to start executable (+x) script (sh, bin, etc files) just by clicking on it? Under gnome new window will open where You can choose Your action (open/edit/close). Maybe there should be also new option "execute as program"?

Hi,

kdelibs (version 4 and earlier) is no longer maintained since a few years.

KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have implemented this wish.

If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue.

We then can still dispatch it to the right Bugzilla product or component.

Greetings
