Description Marc Schiffbauer 2008-12-19 02:01:29 UTC
Version:           4.1.85 (using Devel)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Compiled sources

Rightclick on Desktop -> Appearance Settings -> Get new Wallpapers

You can see pictures from the online site, you can click "Install", something seems happen, and it gets remembered what has been installed so you can "Deinstall" it later (button text and icon changed).

But the whole feature is completely pointless because the installed wallpaper does not appear anywhere so you can actually as a wallpaper what you previously installed...
Comment 1 Marc Schiffbauer 2008-12-19 02:08:37 UTC
Additional comment: after playing some more with it and trying lots of images, they suddenly appeard in the dropdown list so the problem seems not 100% reproducable. :-/
Comment 2 Dario Andres 2008-12-19 02:15:37 UTC
I've just downloaded and installed a wallpaper 2hours ago , it was listed in the wallpapers-combobox (?)
using:

Qt: 4.4.3
KDE: 4.1.85 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.2 Beta2))
kdelibs svn rev. 898705 / kdebase svn rev. 898705
on ArchLinux x86_64 - 2.6.27.8
Comment 3 Beat Wolf 2008-12-19 13:06:00 UTC
can't reproduce. can you tell us what specific wallpaper triggers this?
Comment 4 Marco Martin 2008-12-19 13:50:19 UTC
yeah, works ok also here, if nobody can reproduce with trunk going to mark as fixed in trunk
Comment 5 Marc Schiffbauer 2008-12-20 17:34:55 UTC
Works for me too now. I cannot find a way to reproduce this anymore. Sorry :-/
Comment 6 FiNeX 2008-12-20 21:05:15 UTC
Works for me too.
Comment 7 Marc Schiffbauer 2008-12-22 03:15:36 UTC
Hello,

I just discovered this behavior again:

Can anybody confirm if trying like this?

-> Select most downloaded images
-> Install "Tuxwin"
-> Press close

Try to choose this: its not there!
Comment 8 Beat Wolf 2008-12-22 09:57:29 UTC
Works very well here. Only strange thing is that the tuxwin wallpaper changed name after downloading, it is now 3270-k-drop. Perhaps this was your problem?
Comment 9 FiNeX 2008-12-22 10:55:47 UTC
@Mark, @Beat: which revisions/versions are you exactly using?
Comment 10 Beat Wolf 2008-12-22 11:00:36 UTC
Latest trunk. As i sad, works good here, it's just that sometimes the name of the wallpaper shown in hotnewstuff is not the same as the one that is shown in the wallpaper selectionbox
Comment 11 Marc Schiffbauer 2008-12-22 14:43:51 UTC
@FiNex:
I tried with beta2 (4.1.85) first (german locale settings).
And now I tested too with a different user using a nightly build (svn899133)
-> same issuse, tuxwin does not appear.

@Beat Wolf:
No, the image is definitly not there.

And I noticed too, that the image names often change for images that do work.

Comment 12 FiNeX 2008-12-22 17:55:24 UTC
I confirm the bug anyway, but it seems related to the specific wallpaper, other wallpapers works fine.
Comment 13 Nicolas L. 2009-02-28 02:23:46 UTC
confirming that it works for others
Comment 14 Nicolas L. 2009-02-28 02:30:44 UTC
seems to appear to all compressed images ( tgs, tar.bz2, ... )
Comment 15 Dario Andres 2009-04-25 14:42:27 UTC
Here using:

Qt: 4.5.0 + qt-copy-patches-936035
KDE: 4.2.70 (KDE 4.2.70 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090415))
kdelibs svn rev. 958964 / kdebase svn rev. 958965
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.29.1

Installing the "TuxWin" wallpaper works (progress bar goes, and the Install button changes to Uninstall), but the wallpaper is not listed in the Wallpaper comobobox

Should this be addressed on KGHNS(@kdelibs) or Plasma itself?
Comment 16 Beat Wolf 2009-10-21 15:28:06 UTC
This is still a valid bug in 4.3.2. I could reproduce it with the tuxwin wallpaper
Comment 17 Beat Wolf 2009-12-17 11:32:45 UTC
i can reproduce this with the tuxwin wallpaper in 4.4 beta2.
I think it's a bug that is specific to the tuxwin wallpaper
Comment 18 Marc Schiffbauer 2009-12-27 22:58:49 UTC
Just wanted to confirm that the bug still exists in 4.3.85 (as in #17) at least with the "Tuxwin" wallpaper.

(Please do not test with the "tuxwin ... suse ..." wallpaper, this works fine here)
Comment 19 Nicolas L. 2010-06-07 00:57:18 UTC
seems to work ok here in kde 4.4

Can someone confirm ?
Comment 20 Marc Schiffbauer 2010-06-26 11:34:42 UTC
Confirmed!
