It took me ages to find the place where I could set Compiz as the window manager for KDE, instead of KWin.  It was under "Session Manager", which makes no sense to me.  Kwin's own compositing settings are under "Desktop", so that seems a more sensible place for this.

It's been moved to default applications in KDE 4.2.
