Bug 177077

Summary: lock up of all open konsoles
Product: [Applications] konsole Reporter: Luke-Jr <luke-jr+kdebugs>
Component: generalAssignee: Konsole Developer <konsole-devel>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE

Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Unspecified

Description Luke-Jr 2008-12-06 18:47:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
Compiler: GCC 4
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Background: I accidentally wrote a fork bomb on my server and ulimit apparently wasn't working right.

Somehow, as a result, every single Konsole I had open completely locked up (no redrawing) until I forcefully umounted my sshfs connection in a real tty. I also observed that for some reason, there was only a single 'konsole' process running.

Hello,

This is correct. Konsole by default only uses one process for all its windows in KDE 4 - if new instances are launched from the K-Menu or other GUI. If you start a new Konsole instance from the terminal it will use a new process.

Why did you resolve this? The problem still exists...

Hi Luke,

Sorry, I was too quick on the draw closing a few apparently related reports.

It certainly does have more info, but it's an entirely unrelated bug.
