Why the heck was my message list "threaded" with this horrid Group Sort rubbish when I had no inkling of that setup in 4.1.x Kmail??? What a horrible default to spring on someone! 

Please, for the love of all that's holy, simplify those default settings and ditch the buttons on top of the message list! WAAAAAY too complicated.

You probably missed the buttons that will allow you to change the way your messages are displayed. Unfortunately, we cannot make them bigger so that you can't miss them.

Nope, didn't miss them. Took me half an hour digging through the settings to go back to the way I've had it configured for umpteen  versions. My point was why did my settings change so drastically to something I cannot imagine most people would want at all?
