Description Tore Anderson 2008-11-29 14:29:40 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

I have disabled the message preview pane due to the limited 1024x768 resolution on my laptop, and instead opt to read the messages by opening them in a separate window.

Since I've upgraded to KDE 4, this window keeps resetting to showing up in a infuriatingly small size, making it impossible to read the message before I resize it. If I maximise the window and close it again, the next few messages I open are usually maximised, but it always resets to the small size after I've opened 4-5 messages. This did not happen using KDE 3.5. I've seen this behaviour on both Fedora 10 and Ubuntu 8.10, and after clean reinstalls (no old ~/.kde/ left over from earlier versions).

It makes no difference if I open the messages by double-clicking them with the mouse pointer or using the Enter key on the keyboard, the window size keeps resetting.

I'll attach a screenshot which shows how the small message window looks.

Tore

With kde 4.2 beta 1 (kmail 1.10.90) the mail window size is remembered (I've opened 20 mails) even after closing and starting again kmail.

This bug appears to be fixed in current svn of KDE 4.2. I'm closing this report, but please feel free to reopen it if you can still reproduce the bug in a current KDE version.
