Description PallasBurko 2008-11-27 16:44:06 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

In KDE 4.2 Beta 1(openSUSE live-CD): When a folderview is set as the desktop-containment, there is just the rightclick-menu of the folderview .There is no trace of "add widgets", "add panel", "logout", "run command" and so on. So in case one will add another widget/panel, he is forced to use the cashew.
Also no logout by rightclick is possible.

I would like to have those menu entries in a folderview-containment as well.

and people wonder why i'm so adamant that it doesn't get removed.

I personally like it as an new menu to interact, but I mostly use it for my acticities, not really for settings, etc.

BTT: 1. sorry for reporting a duplicate of an existing bug report. I guess I have overseen it.

2. Is there any hope of fixing it?

"Is there any hope of fixing it? "

yes. should be addressed in 4.3. the code was fixed up in libplasma half-way for 4.2, and the other half (which is a feature, so can't really commit it now) will end up in 4.3

Dammit. I would never have thought that this is a feature, instead of a bug. I guess it is quite inportant.

Maybe a tweak with the one half of the code for 4.2.1 ?

no, it's squarely a feature. the way we will do this will let allow us to ensure it is available to all containments (just as wallpapers are) and let users customize the menus extensively.
