Version:            (using KDE 4.1.3)
Installed from:    Debian testing/unstable Packages

KDE4.1.3 Debian Experimental has extremely bad quality when used over VNC. I know it is a KDE-specific problem because KDM and even ksplashx are OK, but once the desktop loads, quality is very bad

NB my ksplash theme is PNG based, not SVG based,

I'm not sure this is a kde bug, you should report it also to the developers of your VNC client.
