It would be nice if windows/menus using the fade effect would fade to pure transparency rather than fading to the semi-transparent dark color that it currently fades to.
As a note, I already checked and this is not the Shadow plugin acting funky with the fade plugin. (I turned the shadow plugin off)

It does not really fade to black. That's the shadow. I think that's fixed with the new shadow implementation in 4.2. Lucas?
