Description Peter ZHOU 2008-11-11 03:02:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: OS X
Installed from: Mac OS X (Fink) Packages

Amarok doesn't play stream under OSX, or it does play but has no sound. Maybe there's something to do with the backend?
Comment 1 Leo Franchi 2008-11-11 03:12:29 UTC
i can confirm. the bottom menubar in amarok says they are playing, but the CV and rest of amarok does not and there is no audio.

could most likely be the coreaudio backend?
Comment 2 Peter ZHOU 2008-11-12 03:46:48 UTC
I can play with it(mms stream) now after installing flip4mac.
Comment 3 illogic-al 2008-11-12 04:06:09 UTC
We still have issues with the streams provided by the Cool Streams script so this hasn't been resolved yet.
Comment 4 Leo Franchi 2008-12-02 18:56:32 UTC
postponing to 2.1, this is not a direct amarok bug and 2.0 is beta-quality on os x anyway.
Comment 5 Leo Franchi 2009-03-11 21:35:38 UTC
really no clue how to fix this. remains in 2.x with qt4.5 and their brand-new phonon-coreaudio engine :(
Comment 6 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-08-02 13:04:46 UTC
Any news on this?
Comment 7 Leo Franchi 2009-08-02 21:33:58 UTC
well as it was broken with qt 4.5 before, it's still broken with qt 4.5 now :P maybe the vlc phonon engine will do it, but it crashes for me here, just tried last week.
Comment 8 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-08-02 21:41:32 UTC
I was of course asking as a reminder :) Also, as there have been bugfixes in Qt 4.5... but we still depend on Qt 4.4 for now anyway (if this has been forgotten).
Comment 9 Mark Kretschmann 2009-09-04 13:10:34 UTC
This is very likely a Phonon (backend) issue. Reassigning.
Comment 10 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-12-25 11:25:25 UTC
What backend is this about? No idea what the OS X version uses.
Comment 11 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-04-06 09:06:18 UTC
Leo and Peter, could you please try again with the vlc-backend (and a more recent KDE)?
Comment 12 Myriam Schweingruber 2011-01-28 14:41:23 UTC
Some feedback would be nice to have, current Phonon stable is 4.4.4
Comment 13 Myriam Schweingruber 2013-04-13 06:20:32 UTC
Closing for lack of feedback. Please feel free to reopen if you can reproduce this with KDE 4.10.2 or later.
