Description Laurent Lacomme 2008-11-06 13:36:03 UTC
Version: 1.10.1 (using 4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27-7-generic

Each time I try to add a label to a message in Kmail (like "friend", "professional", etc. but not "Important" or "Todo"), Kmail freezes definitely. Nothing is written in terminal when launched from it.

For information : Kleopatra is installed and in use. No other specific plugin or related software launched.

Are you working on a local maildir? on a remote IMAP server?

I am on a local maildir. All my account are POP.

I can add maybe that I'm using the french language packages. I don't know if it is important.

I can't reproduce this with kmail 1.10.3. I added a new message tag called "test" and then I marked a message from a pop account as "test" and it worked just fine.

From the information from bug 176629, this is most probably related to nepomuk.
Comment 6 Christoph Paasch 2009-01-18 23:02:01 UTC
Well, with the current version of KDE (4.2 RC1) I can't reproduce this anymore. It's probably related to some kind of "configure settings importing thing" as I had quite some problems with old configuration files getting imported from akonadi or nepomuk, so that I deleted all of them and restarted from scratch ...
Comment 7 George Kiagiadakis 2009-02-04 10:28:11 UTC
This is probably related to the backend that nepomuk uses. Using the (extremely slow) redland backend, it would take ages to tag something... even in dolphin. Using the fast sesame backend there isn't any problem. Now, since 4.2 nepomuk refuses to start with the redland backend, so it will only work with the sesame one. That's probably the reason why you can't reproduce it with 4.2-rc1.

I'm closing this bug now. Please reopen if you can still reproduce.
