Just an idea a friend told me: It would be nice if kopete could take the text for the away message from the current calendar event. Maybe not automatically but suggest it in the list of available (pre-saved) messages.

(That's probably something the plugin stuff is for)

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
