The Crystal iconset you selected was installed by default or you downloaded it from Kde-Look ?. Icon naming scheme changed from KDE3 to KDE4 (to follow the freedesktop.org scheme). I think Crystal iconset is still using the KDE3 icon naming scheme, so, the icons aren't really changed. On a mageia v7 system with plasma5 in a fresh user in startx, I don't see a crystal icon theme , and changing the the icon theme to oxygen has no effect. Changing it to newvula from "get new themes" did change it however. When you try with Oxygen, does it take effect after a reboot? Does it never take effect? After setting to Oxygen, it takes effect after logging out of the startx session and running startx again. Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software.
